Original Christmas Poems from Ahrend Walters

Christmastime is special to the Believer Poet. Ahrend Walters shares with you his Christmas poetry.

When you read the poetry of Ahrend Walters, let go of preconceived notions and keep your mind open. When you see a poem with two columns read the first line on the left, then the next line on the right, back to the left and then to the right, through the whole poem.

Although not designed to completely read the first column on the left and then the column on the right, you can do so and perhaps get additional insight from the poems.

Your Christmas Treat

From: Ahrend R. Walters & His Critter Friends
December 2007

From this farm in the country
Quite near to their plastic
We write to you now
To share at this Christmas
The sweetness of love
And how lowly He laid
Our Hope our Life
He given by God
Taste Him at now
He beaten and bruised
He's waiting at here
For all in this slice
where rest many holes
muddy feed bowls
my critters and I
through freshly baked pie
remember His birth
in a manger on earth
our Shepherd and Friend
to save us from sin
the sweetness of love
He mocked and shoved
so pleasantly sweet
Your Christmas Treat

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 — New International Version

A Kiss of Christmas Spice

From Ahrend R. Walters
December 9, 2006

During this time of Christmas
Around the wamrth and spice
I pray you know it's here
The love of Jesus Christ
The gracious joy is lingering too
And the glorious bells do toll
The church is lighted on a hill
As the winter now is whole
Hear the truth of our King
His birth of love and peace
Hear our reason to be kind
From the dawn it's released
On the Christmas day o' there
The truth was born to men
As the gentle manger waited
For the greatest known and then
Here he was and too did walk
He gave and then he died
The warmth of his perfect heart
Is now alive though crucified
As this time of Christmas
Can be of warmth and of spice
May you all find happiness
A tender kiss from Christ

Ahrend Walters is in his early twenties, but he is already a prolific writer. To date he has published five volumes of original poetry.
